I take pride in leading BES@Yavneh. Returning to Shul during the pandemic to say Kaddish after my mum’s passing, I realised the effort needed to drive the community forward. With a young family, I felt it was time to step up. Since October 2021, I’ve made friends, built relationships, expanded our leadership, and launched new initiatives.
Transformation takes time, but we’re building momentum and fostering meaningful connections. I strive to find a place for everyone, whether leading programmes, setting up for events, or contributing in small ways.
Reflecting on our recent achievements, we’ve hosted more guest speakers and community-led discussions. We’ve introduced a new parallel Shabbat morning service, the Pop-Up Minyan, to accommodate growth and experiment with a new style of service. A new team of parent-led Youth Coordinators and Madrichim has formed, and Leslie has trained new Gabbaim for Hashkama. Our Southside breakfast and Shacharit have been successful, and we launched our first all-night Tikkun Leil with morning services. We’ve hosted a community lunch for 250 guests, established regular sessions on the situation in Israel, and frequently host Shema Koleinu at Yavneh. More people are joining the conversation and supporting our community’s mission.
There are numerous ways to get involved and help BES@Yavneh thrive. Please speak to me or anyone on the southside team with ideas, suggestions, or if you’d like to participate in our ongoing conversation.
Thank you and Shabbat Shalom,
Dan Miller
BES Vice Chair, Yavneh
